Star of the Show: My Life on Stage by Dolly Parton with Tom Roland — a New York Times bestseller. The culminating volume in Dolly’s photographic trilogy, following Songteller (lyrics) and Behind the Seams (fashion).
This is Dolly Parton’s definitive look at a lifetime on stage — more than 500 full-color photographs, exclusive images and ephemera from her archive, and an eight-page gatefold listing a lifetime of performances.
From singing on a woodpile in the Smoky Mountains to the Grand Ole Opry, from state fairs with Porter Wagoner to arenas packed with millions of fans, Dolly recounts the nights that made her a star. She shares memories of 9 to 5, Steel Magnolias, duets with Kenny Rogers, Linda Ronstadt, and Emmylou Harris, hosting Saturday Night Live, the Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving halftime show, and the work of staying on top for seven decades.
Brimming with her trademark wit and heart, Star of the Show is both a career retrospective and a love letter to performing — the lights, the crowds, the costumes, and the joy of doing the thing she was born to do.
A stunning collector’s item for anyone who has ever watched Dolly take a stage and light it up.
